Android: keep widgets updating on time

Home screen widgetsandroid

Battery saving on many Android phones restricts background work, which is the most common reason widgets don't update on time. Letting Numable run in the background makes updates more reliable.

  1. Open Me › Background refresh and follow the steps on that page.
  2. Or go to system Settings › Apps › Numable › Battery and choose "Unrestricted".
  3. Some phones also require allowing Numable separately under auto-start management.

Background refresh also has Home-screen widget updates: Standard updates most often and uses the most battery; Balanced is the default and balances freshness and battery; Saver uses the least battery and suits a home screen with many widgets. On Free, widgets update at most once every 5 minutes.

The status didn't change? On some phones (especially Xiaomi), the setting takes a moment to save, so it may still show the old status right after you return. Leave the page and open it again.

If you use reminders, the same settings also help them arrive on time.
